Pastor
Larry Shumaker
Pastor Larry Shumaker has been the Pastor at New Providence Baptist Church since March of 2007. A 1981 graduate of Carl Junction High School. He furthered his education by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri–Rolla (Now Missouri S & T) in May 1985. After graduation, Larry married his best friend, JoBeth Lundstrom, on June 8, 1985. Together, they have three children and one grandson. Larry’s chosen life verse is Luke 6:31, “And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” It has corrected and guided Pastor Larry for over 50 years.

Pastoral Intern
Landon Budke
Landon Budke is the Pastoral Intern at New Providence Baptist Church. He is originally from Beloit, Kansas, and lives in Joplin with his wife, Ally, whom he married in 2023. He is studying Theology and Preaching at Ozark Christian College and has come to New Providence to be taught hands-on by Pastor Larry. He also serves as the Ministry Assistant at First Baptist Church of Joplin.
A Note From Pastor Larry
"It is my privilege and honor to be used by God as Pastor of New Providence Baptist Church. My prayer is that I will be a faithful witness to God’s grace, love, and mercy, even as we anticipate and prepare for the holy, righteous, and perfect judgment that is to come. Jesus said, “If anyone will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me”—Luke 9:23. May all people everywhere come to Christ."
